eBay's Bretheren to the West

I'm back. It's been a couple days mainly because after a full day of work and then dinner, I've been too beat to sit and write a post.
I must say, I'm not usually a nervous person but Monday the nerves were definitely in full force. There were 8 of us who were working the same day shift and we were all out there to catch the bus to ePerformax. I knew 2 of them from SLC but all 7 of them had been together for at least 2 weeks and I was the odd the man out. Of course that didn't last very long but I was a bit uncomfortable at first. Myself excluded, they really chose a good bunch to come out and get this up and running. The people that they brought in from VBC are all top notch and I'm already sorry for when they all head back home.

The other nerves came from meeting all the trainees but those nerves passed almost instantly. The Filipino people are the nicest people I've ever met and they are always smiling and laughing. They are extremely friendly and are thrilled to have us here. Every person I pass in the office looks up and says hello with a smile. I was commenting earlier today that I will be walking through the office in Draper and as I pass somebody I am ready for them to make eye contact so I can say hello. Most of the time they never look up and just keep walking. I think to myself....we work for the same company, what is a matter with everyone. It's been really refreshing to see everyone so friendly. They are very smart and very hardworking and want to do a good job. They study hard and pick things up right away. The office has been a great experience.

It's been weird to not eat American food all the time so sometimes I have to make sure I have a pizza or a burger just to keep it real. Today I had sweet and sour pork at this Chinese restaurant called Singkit, on Monday I had teriyaki chicken on a bed of rice at a place called Teriyaki Boy and last night for dinner I thought we were going to to TGIF but I was a little worried when we walked into this Vietnamese restuarant. Those of you who know my pickiness know what a change this is for me. So I went in and looked for a dish that had beef in it which hopefully would be ok. I had beef with beef balls. It was some soup dish with noodles and beef....it was pretty good. So tonight I ordered a pizza from room service.

If you are thinking my trip is a little too good to be true that is going to change a bit next week. Phones go live here next week and everybody will be working during the US day. So all of our shifts and days off will change next week. I got the worst of the bunch. My days off will be Sun-Mon and my shift will be 8pm to 5am. I know on Saturday I will be working different hours but I can't remember what they will be. I'm not sure if that starts this weekend or next but whenever it does, I will plan to go to Hong Kong as I will have Sat-Sun-Mon off for the first week. So far, all the pictures I have taken have been posted on this blog....hopefully I will utilize my camera more going forward.
